DISCLAIMER: For safety, always ensure that you are using LED lanterns and LED fairy lights for projects like these, rather than old fashioned filament bulbs. LEDs always stay cool to the touch, unlike traditional filament bulbs, which can get very hot and cause a hazard if used near fabrics or flammable materials.
Begin by assembling your fabric lantern to create a neat, spherical base. Using your glue gun, secure the metal frame ends of the lantern into their brackets. This way we can avoid the ends coming loose and the lantern losing its rigidity.
Next, take the now-glued lantern and drizzle stripes of glue along the outside, and begin to attach handfuls of the pillow stuffing to the fabric. A helpful tip is to place the lantern on the ground, and work from the bottom panel upwards in layers. After this, wrap two lengths of fishing wire around the whole thing and tightly secure into place.
To begin to shape the cloud, start by adding an extra handful of stuffing onto each side of the lantern to make it less spherical and more cloud-shaped. You can also add extra loops of fishing wire as needed to secure the extra stuffing, and then a further length to the top of the lantern so that you can hang the finished cloud above you.
To achieve the look of the cloud being illuminated, tuck a length of white micro lights inside the lantern. You can hide away the battery pack inside of the lantern too, and then hang the cloud in position overhead to bring a touch of magic to your Halloween décor.
