Our Autumn Favourites

Written by: Grace Agar

Shiny boots in muddy puddles, leaves on cobblestones, and a little bit of luxury, we welcome the upcoming season and treasure all the small moments of indulgence that it brings. With Autumn just around the corner, it's time to embrace the season of hunkering down, cosying up and bringing out all the autumn favourites. If you’re in need of some inspiration for Autumn, our team are sharing their favourite’s ahead of the upcoming season.
Books

Roaring fires and leather-bound books, the season for reading is inbound. Colder days and lazy afternoons on the weekend call for settling down with a good book, and we have a selection of recommendations to try this Autumn.

Living up to the hype, the ACATAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) series by Sarah J. Maas has to be at the top of our must-read list. Not to be ignored if fantasy is not your normal go-to genre, this series defies expectations and unlocks a new genre obsession. A love story that transcends throughout the series, this series is one you won’t be able to put down and perfect for getting stuck into this Autumn.

Alternatively, if something a little darker is more to your taste, The Housemaid series by Freida McFadden is an addictive psychological thriller and with three books in the series, is perfect for getting stuck into without being too daunting. Whether you like a good old fashioned bound book, to read on an electronic device or listen on Audiobooks, take some time this Autumn to relax and unwind with a good book of your choosing.

Entertainment

Walking, on your commute or simply pottering around doing your daily to do’s, podcasts are the perfect accompaniment for on-the-go entertainment. Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster is the teams go to podcast for easy listening and guaranteed laughs. Talking all things food with a host of celebrity guests, this podcast is a feel-good favourite perfect for cosy listening.

If educational listening is your preferred choice, Legacy by Wondery is a go to for all things History. Looking into the legacies of those who have lived before us and the not so conventional untold tales of their lives, this podcast is perfect for a deep dive into the history books. Finally, a light-hearted and super relevant favourite has to be Dish with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett. Dinner party antics and lots of foodie tips, this podcast is perfect for hosting inspiration.

Cosy up this Autumn in front of the roaring fire and TV to watch all your favourite seasonal films. Whether that be a classic Autumnal series like Gilmore Girls or something new like Emily in Paris for a little seasonal escapism, Autumn days are the perfect opportunity for cosy Sunday afternoons on the sofa.

Home Essentials

Home comforts all Autumn long. Slow cooker meals, muddy shoes in boot rooms and good old fashioned board games. Comforting foods; cinnamon, warm apple crumble and an abundance of hot chocolates for some post-hike warmth, indulge in your Autumn foodie favourites. Create a wholesome welcome home with your favourite seasonal fragrances, cosy candlelight and tweed and wool galore. Take time away from phones to get stuck into card games with family next to a warming fire, flicking through a coffee table book, and waiting for your home baked goods to finally be ready.
