Muddy woodland walks and days in wild nature bring us home to a classically-styled autumn season, where golden gourds and decorations in fall-hued glass nestle amongst heritage touches of wool and tweed. Twigs and branches are gathered from gardens and dressed with sparkling lights and ribbons in deep, chocolate-brown: crafty additions to hosting-ready tablescapes. Wreaths of plum-toned leaves sit luxuriously above terracotta pumpkins and copper-coloured candles, and set the scene for a season of good old-fashioned fun: think family boardgames by a roaring fire, and stacks of leather-bound books read by cosy candlelight.

As summer ends, we look forward to the new season ahead and think about how to prepare for Autumn. With the turn of the season comes the opportunity for fresh starts, getting organised and settling into a slower, cosier pace of life. Schools returning for a new year, we welcome time back to make the most of late summer days that progress into Autumn, where we find time for never-ending to do lists, but also making time to hunker down. With the first day of Autumn just around the corner at the end of September, we plan ahead to get organised and excited for Autumn festivities to commence.

Leaning into the season of muddy boot rooms, roaring fires and good old fashioned board games, we welcome more time spent at home, and embracing darker mornings and evenings. Taking the time for a fresh start, begin to tick off jobs on your Autumn checklist to ensure your home is ready for the season.

As the garden becomes more sparsely used, it’s time to get it tidied up ahead of Autumn. Begin by moving garden furniture and accessories inside, that won't stand the test of the winter elements and clear any early falling leaves. Cut back greenery and think ahead, planting late-flowering plants to enjoy throughout autumn and making space for spring flowering bulbs, so they’re ready to bloom next spring.

The perfect time to hunker down and begin to get cosy at home, we’re starting to think about all our Autumn essentials that are must-haves for cosy season. Leather bound books, country inns and dog walks, we look forward to crisp Autumn days making the most of getting outdoors, then retreating home to watch a comforting film with a hot cup of tea. Surrounded by candlelight, woolen blankets and the warmth of a log burning fire, we cosy up to listen to a good podcast or get lost in a book to indulge in moments of relaxation and calm that this season brings.
